Why the move to Newcastle?
“It was a family decision to move coastal and coming from Sydney, we still wanted that metropolitan feel with everything very accessible. Once we moved here, we just keep discovering more and more of Newcastle that we love.
I love the lifestyle, the people are amazing and so friendly. The beaches are at our fingertips and so great. Our girls go to Merewether nippers each weekend, so we are down on the beach getting involved and loving it.
To open a storefront has been a dream of mine for a while now. Working solely as a custom jeweller and designer for many years, this is the change that I needed. The store is looking great and there has already been a lot of interest.
I wanted to bring a homely, welcoming feel to the store that is not typical of a jewellery store. Also, most jewellery stores have the same stock standard suppliers meaning that there isn’t much difference in what you see in their cabinets from store to store.
I have decided to go full independent in terms of what pieces I have in my showcases. There are only pieces that I have made and a curated selection of independent designers that you won’t find anywhere else.
I’m really looking forward to the next chapter and getting to know the community and greater Hunter better. I feel that I do bring something unique to the area, being a jeweller, designer and the face that you’ll see when you walk into the store.”
