I believe that the jewellery items you choose to wear should be personal and have a story.
For this reason, my custom jewellery designs are always developed in a collaborative process with my clients. Together, we will create a jewellery piece that is as unique as you are.
When you choose Gavin Fisher Jewellery, you will be working directly with me: no middlemen, no junior craftsmen. This way, I can always guarantee the quality of the work, and you can rely on my honesty and trust in pricing and in the design process.
Nearly 20 years of experience has made me an expert craftsman in creating custom jewellery, restoring heirlooms, setting gemstones, and remodelling worn or damaged jewellery.
I'm centrally located in Sydney's inner city, so please call or email me to make an appointment to discuss your idea. And I'm easily availabe on email, phone and Skype so don't worry about distance. Some of my favourite pieces were made for clients across the other side of the world.
I began my career in Sydney and I've been fortunate enough to work in Vancouver, Canada and also in New York City, USA. I returned to Sydney to open my own studio and help my Aussie customers and friends create personalised jewellery.
While living in New York I worked as the Master Jeweller and Shop Manager at one of Manhattan's most prestigious jewellery boutiques; Greenwich St Jewelers. I had the pleasure of meeting with clients to help them design customised jewellery then make the pieces we had designed together. In addition to this I have been trusted by clients to repair and restore heirlooms, and to set sentimental family gems into newly designed rings.
I have also shared my expertise with others while teaching jewellery making classes at private jewellery schools in NYC. Teaching jewellery skills to the young, old and in between is something I found extremely rewarding.
Physical distance is not a barrier. I work internationally with email, Skype, phone calls and insured couriers.
In 2012, I designed and handcrafted my most important jewel: my wife's engagement ring.
A yellow diamond sourced from an ethical supplier in South Africa, crafted in white gold and inset with 48 smaller white diamonds in the band which I sourced from a different supplier in the USA. The claw setting for the large yellow diamond was particularly intricate and I took great pleasure in seeing the final perfect ring for my wife.
My heart and soul went into that ring. Although the ring is understated and simple to an extent, it contains many design decisions and details, and careful crafting of the metal and gems by my own hands. It felt so special to create something that my wife will wear for the rest of her life, and that will be passed along to our future family whether in it's current form or a restoration.
This feeling is what I want to give my clients when I help them design their own treasures.
I want to learn all of my clients' unique stories, what inspires them, and what they love so much that they want to symbolise in a piece of jewellery that will be worn and treasured every day.
